Swifts, Swallows, and Martins Project

The Swifts, Swallows, and Martins Project is an important initiative run by Wildlife Groundswell to support the conservation of these endangered bird species on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. The project focuses on providing safe nesting sites for swifts, swallows, and martins, which face increasing threats due to habitat loss. To help these birds, Wildlife Groundswell has organized swift box-making workshops and, with the help of dedicated local volunteers, has installed over 150 swift boxes in various locations across the peninsula. These boxes provide much-needed homes for these remarkable birds, supporting their survival and encouraging their return each year. Through this hands-on work, the project not only aids in the conservation of these species but also strengthens community engagement with local wildlife and environmental conservation.

If you would like to take part in these activities please enquire by email. Team leaders Justin and Sam will be happy to answer your questions and welcome new volunteers.
